7 Easy Munros Near Fort William

Ben Nevis is included for individuals with good fitness, appropriate footwear, and suitable clothing, particularly during summer. Outside summer, ascending presents significantly greater challenge requiring ice axe and crampons. Strong compass navigation skills necessary for safe descent in poor visibility.

This route offers two Munros: Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean. The ascent begins with impressive views of Glen Nevis, Ben Nevis, and Stob Ban. The traverse between summits provides excellent views towards Glencoe on clear days.

Two Munros: Stob Dubh and Stob Coire Raineach. A well-maintained path leads for the majority of the ascent to the ridge. Initial ascent involves a fairly steep climb, rewarded with significant views overlooking Glencoe and towards Loch Etive.

Three Munros: Carn Liath, Stob Poite Coire Ardair, and Creag Meagaidh. Long route but no overly technical terrain. Caution advised descending 'The Window' which can retain snow well into spring. Lochan Coire Ardair offers wild swimming potential.

Excellent views of Ben Nevis. Generally straightforward hike accessible directly from the accommodation. Terrain can be boggy after leaving the main track. Summit provides rewarding views of the North Face of Ben Nevis.

Relatively short but moderately steep hike offering rewarding panoramic views of Loch Leven. Not classified as a Munro, the ascent culminates in an enjoyable scramble towards the summit. Consider stopping at the nearby Clachaig Inn.

Another Munro you can see from the house. Skip about half of the ascent by getting the Gondola from the Nevis Range. The summits are exposed so a good head for heights is needed and some skilled navigation.
