Fort William Holiday Lodge
(and some corbetts)
Best Munros Near Fort WilliamThese are some of the best Munros near Fort William (and some corbetts)! To attempt these walks you will need a good level of fitness, excellent navigational and route finding skills and a decent head for heights. If attempting in winter you will need an ice axe and crampons with a good idea of how to use them. If these are too much check out our easy Munros page. If you want more check out our epic days page.
highest mountain in scotland
Ben Nevis Via CMD Arete
One of the best munro days Britain has to offer. 2 Munros (Ben Nevis & Carn Mor Dearg) an incredible view of Ben Nevis and a long fun scramble with not too much exposure. Check the summit map of Ben Nevis before attempting this and be aware of the dangers. If you have any questions please message us. Here is a cheesey video of our CMD day on NYE 2019. You can attempt this epic adventure directly from Highwinds, which will add on a couple of miles to the Walkhighlands route.
middle of glencoe
Biden Nam Bian
A steep ascent, incredible views and an airy ascent to the summit. Coming down via the lost valley makes for a great circuit.
spean bridge
The Grey Corries
A stunning circuit taking in Stob Choire Claurigh, Stob Coire an Laoigh and Sgurr Choinnich Mor, it’s a long and fairly demanding day out in the mountains but you’re rewarded with incredible views on all sides. To the West Aonach Mor and Ben Nevis are nicely lined up which looks particularly spectacular.
The drive to the start of the walk is on a VERY rough track so if you have a delicate car you may want to avoid this walk.

Beinn a’Bleithir via Schoolhouse Ridge
An incredible day out in the mountains with stunning views and fantastic ridges. Make sure to stop off in the Ballachulish hotel for a drink on the return leg. Can take your drink across to their fantastic reception room which has a nice fireplace.
glen nevis
Ring of Steall
A long and epic day at the bottom of Glen Nevis. Stunning views of Ben Nevis and the Munros of Glencoe. Some great scrambling on devils ridge and a wire bridge crossing to end or start the day!
2 cars needed
Five Sisters of Kintail
A great ridge walk covering 3 Munros small sections of scrambling but not any exposure. Will require some logistical planning to get back to starting car park, either two cars are needed or a long walk back.
coastal views
Rois-Bheunn round, Inverailort
While you don’t go up any Munro’s it’s a very long day out on these 3 Corbetts and have incredible views of the beatiful west coast of Lochaber.
Glencoe
Buachaille Etive Mòr
The most stunning Munro in the region. Avalanche risk in winter on this route, please do not attempt unless you know what you’re doing and know how to check avalanche forecast. Definitely one of the best Munros near Fort Willaim and worth the trip just to look at it.
